Return Air Vent
The return air vent is a vent that draws the air from the home into a furnace so that it can be heated and brought back to a room through a furnace register. They are typically installed on an inside wall, and not necessarily required in every room of the house. The vent will be either on the wall or on the floor.
There may be little to no ductwork attached to the return air vent. Joist spaces can be used to direct the return air.
No duct connected – this is normal. Joists spaces will allow the return air to be directed out of the room.
NOTE: Ensure the return vents are clear of obstructions. Obstructed vents will cause furnace issues and unbalanced heat in the home.
